Call or e-mail today to schedule an in home visit. 913-579-3638 or Rick@CleanEfficientEnergy.com. Reserve an in home audit time Monday through Friday, either 9am or 1pm. 1) Make your house more comfortable The home energy auditor reviews the home to identify its energy characteristics, such as insulation levels, window efficiency, wall-to-window ratios, the heating and cooling system efficiency, the solar orientation of the home, and the water heating system. There is a reason your home is uncomfortable and We CAN identify the problem. 2) Make you home more healthy for those with respiratory or other health problems. 3) Buy less energy from the utility companies Utility prices are sure to rise. The application of building science allows us to choose the improvements that give the best payback first. For example, most folks would knee-jerk replace their windows like Pavlov's dogs, not often the best payback. What are your best improvement options? 4) Reduce the size of your carbon footprint, pollute the environment less. The application of energy efficiency measures allow the same comfort through less environmentally harmful means. 5) Learn about how your home compares to other homes built like it. The data gathered by the home energy rater is entered into a RESNET accredited computer program and translated into a rating. The home receives a score between 1 and 100, depending on its relative efficiency. An estimate of the home’ s energy costs is also provided in the report. The home’s energy rating is then equated to a Star rating ranging from one star for a very inefficient home to five stars for a highly efficient home. The star and the score provide an easily understandable means to compare more efficient homes by their relative energy efficiency. 5) Identify cost effective improvements An in home audit costs $200, takes two to three hours in home and requires a home owner to share three things: A) the last full years utility bills, B) their perception of comfort problems and C) budget. Provide access to the attic, basement and all parts of the house and yard. You will receive a compact disk with pictures identifying specific to-do items for improvement. More extensive procedures take a Home Energy Rater a day or two and can cost up to $750. Performance testing, such as a blower door test for air leakage and duct leakage, is usually part of the rating. Sophisticated software allows us to quantify your problems and identify your solutions and their respective returns on investment. We can actually see the infiltration problems in your home with our infra-red camera. 6) Move into an efficient home with a favorable mortgage A home energy rating is a recognized tool in the mortgage industry. Home energy ratings can be used in a variety of ways in the housing industry. Bankers can loan you more money knowing that your monthly utility costs will be lower. 7) An Energy Improvement Mortgage refinance allows you to pay to improve your homes' comfort over time. Rates are at an all time low right now! Bundle efficiency improvements with renewable energy production and buy a life time worth of energy out-right. I have included a link to Energy Star for Homes because it explains so many concepts involved in my work so much better than I could. Why re-invent the wheel in a wobbly way? At left is a picture of a blower door test at my moms' and, below, two of my girls in an infrared shot. They represent internal heat gain... and internal heat gain is something I could talk about. |
